Garlic Shrimp w/ Pasta
Garlic Shrimp w/Pasta
Today was an exciting day, I cooked with Jaden Hair of SteamyKitchen.com. If you guys haven’t visited her site it’s a MUST. So, we had Shrimp and what else is there to do with shrimp other than steam them in GARLICCCCCCCCCC, BUTTERRRRRRR and BEERRRRRRRRRRRR!

Listen this recipe is not the recipe you should cook if you are trying to lose weight. But, wait Jaden gave me a wonderful idea, lets just call it a SPLURGE day! There was nothing that could have stopped me from eating that entire pan of shrimp other than the thought of “Mr.SlimMeJim”, he was at home waiting on a sista’! So I had two or maybe three (I promise), photographed and packed them away for my husband to enjoy later at home.
These shrimp are called Garlic Shrimp because the minced 7 cloves of garlic, you gotta love it!
Garlic Shrimp w/ Pasta
servings 4
1 pound 26-30 peeled devined Shrimp w/ Tail on
2 large tablespoons Garlic minced
1/2 stick Unsalted Butter
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1/4 cup Draft beer (we I used Tsingtao, a pure draft beer)
1/2 large Onion chopped
1/2 tablespoon crushed Red Pepper Flakes
1 tablespoon Basil torn or coarsely chopped
Juice of half a Lemon
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Slowly melt butter and olive oil in sauce pan. Add onions before the butter has melted completely, after a few seconds stir in garlic and red pepper flakes. Add in beer, note: pan will cool from the beer: Increase heat just a little. The sauce will start to bubble, at this point it’s singing! Add in shrimp! Salt and pepper to salt, then add in torn basil and squeeze lemon juice over the top! Serve with pasta!
Any kind of pasta noodle, don’t forget to salt the water and follow directions on package!
Excellent, quick, delicious with lots of FLAVA!

Man…can I come live with you and be your grown child so that I can eat gourmet meals everyday, too?! Love it…
I typically use white wine in a dish like this, but I love the idea of subbing in beer! I’m sure my husband would agree that this pasta dish sounds amazing.
Yes, I’ve also used white wine. But, I will tell you the beer totally adds a deeper flavor.
This is really a must recipe if one is on what you call a Splurge day! Yey! I really like the combination of basil and shrimp and onions. I could also use white wine, right?
Thanks for sharing!
